Opening in early 2025, The Standard, Brussels marks the hotel brand’s third outpost in Europe. Set in the city’s Northern Quarter, The Standard, Brussels brings the brand’s design, culture, and activation-driven philosophy to Belgium.

With 180 guestrooms (plus 20 residences), the modern, new-build project features many stages for The Standard’s renowned day- and nightlife. A ground-floor greenhouse welcomes guests and locals into the lobby lounge, restaurant, and terrace. Upstairs, The Rooftop features its own restaurant, bar, and garden—set to become a neighbourhood destination. Throughout the building, additional public and private event spaces are platforms for happenings.

Job Purpose

As a Bellboy / Bagagiste at The Standard, Brussels, you will not only delight our guests, but also excite them; taking them out of their comfort zone whilst taking care of them. From the moment our guests step through our doors take care of a seamless arrival and departure experience, assisting them with their queries and unexpressed wishes.

The Bellman is someone that everybody wants to know and become friends with because of their insider knowledge and connections provides information on hotel services and most importantly, make our guests feel welcome. They create the feeling of being the first point of contact due to the frequency and the length of their interactions with guests.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Opens door and greets as they enter and leave the hotel
  • Assists guests with carrying luggage during check-in and check-out. Safely and promptly delivers to and picks up luggage from guest rooms
  • Tags and places guest luggage in storage at guest request. Retrieves luggage for guests from storage
  • Explain and promote hotel facilities, outlets, guest room features and services to guest and provide in-formation to guest regarding local attractions and activities
  • Assists guests with transportation by getting taxis or arranging car services. Opens car and taxi doors for guests
  • Parks and retrieves cars from valet parking. Communicates all guest valet information to Guest Service Agent
  • Occasionally runs errands for guests and delivers items to guest rooms

Candidate Profile

Required skills and Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing X lbs. without assistance
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
  • Remain in stationary position for extended periods of time

A minimum of 1+ years’ experience customer-facing role gained within a similar Lifestyle Hotel or large city centre Hotel is essential for this role. Although prior experience in a similar role is useful, we welcome all at The Standard. You should have an uncompromised and natural flair for service, building genuine relationships with guests that enable us to not only pre-empt needs but foresee desires… yes, even the ones they didn’t know they had!

In addition to this you may also have:

  • Proven background in a customer-facing role, ideally in a ‘lifestyle’ or boutique hotel or similar hospitality ven-ue.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including shifts, evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Great attention to detail
  • Fluency in French and/or Dutch in addition to English is preferred for this role
  • Highly social, motivated, and proactive; professionalism and positivity in all interactions.
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a high-volume, high-energy environment.
  • During the pre-opening period you will need to have a flexible approach to working hours which may include some late finishes and weekends as we prepare the hotel for opening.
